How To Catch And Treat Melanoma Cancer
In this article today I'd like to talk about several tips, tricks, and techniques that you can use to catch and treat melanoma cancer before it gets out of hand and becomes life-threatening.
Even though many forms, if not most forms of cancer, seem to be declining thanks to medical advances; melanoma cancer seems to be rising in frequency for any number of reasons that I'm not really going to get into today. What is important is that we catch melanoma before it becomes life-threatening and that's what I'm going to talk about in this article today.
The first thing you should always do is have a visual body scan checkup with your doctor at least once a year and possibly up to four times a year if you are the kind of person with a higher probability of skin cancer than most. This includes people that work outside for a living or who were exposed to a lot of sun damage early in life, or who have a high history of skin cancer in the family. A general physician can administer a simple visual scan in a normal checkup, but you may want to visit a dermatologist instead. Whichever you're most comfortable with will work just fine.

QUESTION:
The whole Facebook "breast cancer" picture scandal?
I just read this article
http://www.smh.com.au/news/technology/web/facebooks-photo-flipflop/2009/06/01/1243708393637.htmland could not believe what I was reading! What is wrong with some of these people! I'm a woman, I'm all for breast cancer awareness, but it seems that the public is not ever pleased with anything! Surely the woman's reason for putting the image on Facebook was not explicit, but you have to take into account that the people working for facebook probably go through thousands if not even more of explicit images every hour, they don't have time to "investigate" everyone 's reason for their images. I don't think Facebook has anything to apologise for! In fact it should be praised for its "security" (well security on this matter, I won't go into the whole paedophile thing)!
I have a question for PARENTS. Would you rather the security wasn't as tight, and there were images of penises and boobs and other things roaming around on facebook and you knew your kids were using it? Would that make you feel more comfortable? And is it not the same thing if a man was to put a picture of his diseased penis and say it was to raise awareness for STD's?
Honestly. Some people...
I'm just wondering what your opinions are on this matter.
ANSWER:
the picture is not "wrong" so to speak, i think that facebook should allow a pic of that nature to come with a warning sign (before seeing the pic) to stat to the viewer that this image might not be appropriate for children (deviantART has it). but i agree facebook shouldn't have to apologize for banning the image.i would have to disagree on the "penis" argument. the photo of the woman did not have any exposed female anatomy. i.e. nipple, but a diseased penis is still a penis (male genitalia). it wouldn't be the same thing, and would be inappropriate for children to see.
QUESTION:
Problem with Cancer slogans?
Okay, I want your opinions on this. I feel like the cancer slogans I have been hearing are so degrading for example for breast cancer we have "feel your boobies" or "save the boobies" and a lot of them are worn my men on their cars (and of course girls have them as well, I find its the younger population-my generation-mostly people who have never had it). Or this I found recently posted all over FB for colon cancer, the second most deadliest cancer in the U.S- "Please post a picture of your (or someone else's) ass for colon cancer awareness. The goal is to see nothing but asses of Facebook by January 1st. We're not sure how, but somehow this will surely cure colon cancer for good. Repost.."My mother has suffered 4 different types of cancer (still a survivor) and two of them include breast cancer and colon cancer.
I find these slogan degrading, especially for those who had to endure the multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, or in other cases the terminal disease. It was horrible watching my mom have to go through this time and time again. I actually found myself more than willing to take that medication for her, if it would have helped her out.
My mom has been having these cancers since I was 10 (i am 21 now).Anyways, I just find that these slogans are meant more for people's amusement or the stupid guys who think its "cool" to have these slogans or the moronic women who don't really think of the disease as what they are, which is a disease that has caused millions upon millions of people pain and torture. Worst of all, my mom agrees with me, she is really sick of these slogans as well, finding them herself humiliating.
Okay so my question is do you agree or disagree? Am I in the right, or am I just being overly sensitive to the issue because someone so close to me has endured this and because I work in the medical field and have seen so many cancer patients that I am just weakened from all the emotional and physical pain I have seen adults and children go through?
Whats your opinion??
ANSWER:
There is a website called MEME and they try to take over the internet with their stupid trends like what color is your bra or where do you keep your purse (breast cancer awareness) and post a cartoon charater so no human faces are on Facebook..apparently it would end child abuse like pictures of asses will prevent colon cancer...It's just a viral take over they try to control...until people smarten up it will continue..The one I hate the most is "have a happy period" I have endometriosis and there is nothing happy about it....
QUESTION:
Lump in chest and very scared (Male)?
Hello, I am a 24 year old male who recently found a lump in my chest last week and i am very worried.Last Monday or Tuesday, I was laying in my bed and was just casually rubbing my chest and noticed it was tender in one area. I didnt think much of it until I felt around and felt a hard lump a little bit above my nipple to the right. I kept my eye on it and the next day I woke up and saw the area had become discolored and appearing reddish and kinda brownish-greenish. Well, when I saw this I thought maybe I bruised my chest. Sometimes after I work out I kinda beat my chest as to congratulate myself and I remembered laying down one night and dropping my phone on my chest. I assumed it was from those two actions but its been a week and the lump is still there and the discoloration.
I've looked online and I'm truly freaking out that it's male breast cancer. I havent been able to find anyone with discoloration and a lump above the nipple though. And no pictures online have looked anything like what I have. The lump is tiny and I would have never noticed it had i not felt the tenderness. It cant be gynecomastia (enlarged breast tissue in men) because it is to far above the nipple. My chest in that area is kinda hurting off and on and it's all I'm thinking about. I have a doctors appointment Wednesday but I'm very afraid to even go
.I know this is not a medical board but I'd appreciate any information anyone could share or even something comforting.
Thank you
im in pretty good shape...I'm 5'10" 148ANSWER:
Chances are its something called Lypoma. Its just a piece of fatty tissue. They are harmless but you should still see a doctor just to be sure
QUESTION:
Does sex relief frustration and anger in a man?
I am working with a man who was going through a divorce. He became affectionate towards me and even proposed marriage (which he has since forgotten). His wife turned up at his door step the day the divorce was to go-through, and announced she had breast cancer. She moved back and has been back with him since, in a separate room as she has been receiving treatment and surgery. As I live far away, we work on a project long-distance. He has since, I suspect developed a relationship with another colleague. He gets very angry when we talk and has changed recently to be impatient and overbearing. His phone will be switched off for short periods, when he gets back on the phone, his mood would have changed. Do you think he is having an affair with his secretary? She is blonde, 19 years old and buxom. He paints nude women and has been painting larger and larger pictures of women in different positions. Is he also a pervert? or an artist ? plus sex-addict?ANSWER:
Sounds like your a little bitter because he let his wife back in his life and for got about you. You should be glad for that just think you could be married to that Ahole. As far as his secretary goes don't you think this should be the name for secretary's ( sexatary ) it seems the mass majority sleep with their boss. When my husband was to receive a sexatary I told him that I was going to pick her out for him, well I did and she was fat very unattractive I had nothing to worry about with this one. Two years later my sister in law said to me ...... looks good now don't she,I said to her are you crazy. Come to find out she lost over 100lbs and took her big ugly glass off and wear contacts and make-up. Well she still wasn't a pretty woman but better then before i ask my husband why he didn't say anything about the weight lost you didn't ask he said.He didn't say anything because YEP he was sleeping with her, I'm not bragging at all but i put her to shame in the looks and I am built better then her she has short brown hair i have very long blonde hair and personality i remember my husband telling me how she like to start trouble in the office and talk about everyone behind their back.My personality is the complete opposite of hers.It goes without saying a guy will sleep with any female if they are around each other long enough makes no difference what they look like because after a while they all start to look good in the eyes of a male.
QUESTION:
Is it just me or is this completely rude?
A few days ago my boyfriends mother died.. it was kind of unexpected but she was sick with breast cancer and emphysema. She rents her home so we have to get everything cleaned out ASAP esp because myself and boyfriend and his brother both live in a different town then his mother did.. to be completely honest I can't stand my boyfriends step mother anyway.. she is a very rude person.. my boyfriends mother did smoke A LOT and drink quite a bit to.. well we was all 4 going through her things in her home (boyfriend, myself, his brother and his step mother (Mary)) my boyfriend and his brother had to leave for about an hr to give something to the funeral home and I stayed back with mary to help clean and pack things.. well my boyfriends mom was def a pack rat and wasn't the CLEANEST person in the world but it wasn't disgusting or anything.. mary was constantly making rude remarks eating her food drinking her pop and even going as far as taking some of her things.. she had her own little "box" for anything she decided she wanted to keep.. some of the things she was saying was there was beer cans all over the living room she took a wal mart sack and picked all of the cans up took them to me in the kitchen and said well do you think this contributed? She would even walk around picking up her meds.. look at the date she filled them then say how many it came with and then would say and how many do you think is left? (She didn't really take her meds right either) and would say.. I bet that helped.. She would even say.. I thought my house was bad but shes def got me beat.. she would dramatically cough and complain about the cig smoke she even looked at her license picture and said man she was looking a little rough.. hello she was dieing of course she was looking rough! Mary look rough and theres not a THING wrong w/ her! She even picked up the blankets off the couch (where she died at) and said.. I hope I don't catch anything contagious.. some of the items she took was eye glass cleaner some garden gloves some hair barrettes some food some meds that she took that apparently her sister also takes and a breathing machine for someone she knows "that could use it" even though my boyfriend stated that he would have liked for it to be sold.. I don't like mary by any means anyway but I tolerate her.. But it took A LOT for me to hold my tongue at my boyfriends mothers house.. she as just being so rude although she always is! or is it just me? I haven't told my boyfriend and I don't think I will out of respect for his feelings.. He gets along OK with Mary and I don't want to tell him things about his mother that will hurt his feelings esp with him already trying to get over all of this! But I just HAD to tell someone! lol.. opinions should I tell her to shove it where the sun don't shine tomorrow when we finish moving things out?
LOL Miami.. that is funny! She was there to "help"... I'm not telling my boyfriend any of this.. but I do have a hard time saying anything to her.. like she always says our 3 month old son looks nothing like my boyfriend.. in a rude insinuating kind of way if you know what I mean.. even though EVERYONE else says they can see it.. He does look more like me then him though... but still everyone else says they can see it.. I cant even say anything mean to her then or even in my defense!.. im kind of a push over type of person and way to nice at times I have a hard time with confrontation but I am to the point I want to say something..ANSWER:
so what's the question? just kidding tell your boyfriend to talk to her.
Signs Of Male Breast Cancer

Prostate Drugs - Just What are Those Prostate Drugs Like?
Okay, so you haven't had a decent nights sleep in the past 4 years, you routinely leave the mens room still soiling your underwear slightly and your sex life is, well ... it's not.
Something has to be done.
Natural prostate remedies or man-made prostate drugs? Which to choose? Let's take a look at the drugs, what they do, their potential side effects, and how long they take to work.
There are two types of prostate drugs for treating your prostate problem;
1) 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, (commonly known as finasteride) these actually shrink the prostate in volume, and there are a few; Proscar, Propecia, Fincar, Finpecia, Finax, Finast, Finara, Finalo, Prosteride, Gefina.
2) Alpha blockers, they relax the muscles at the neck of the bladder and make urination easier. Here are some that are used, Cardura, Flomax, Hytrin, Regitine, Minipress, and Uroxatral .
However, there are large quantity of side-effects that men experience with these prostate drugs, and one of the things you'll find if you surf the forums on the internet, is that many men experience problems that are irreversible. You just don't know what's going to happen until it happens. To be fair, some of these side effects of these prostate drugs will decrease over time, but in other cases they won't. To be honest, not my cup of tea.
So here's the list of side effects of these prostate drugs;
- Cardura - COMMON - Back pain, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, feeling of a whirling motion, flu-like symptoms, headache, indigestion, lightheadedness, nasal congestion, nausea, pain, stomach pain, swelling, tiredness.
- Floxmax - COMMON - Dizziness, unusual weakness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, or runny nose may occur.
SERIOUS - fainting, vision changes, sexual problems (difficulty ejaculating, decreased interest in sex), fastheartbeat. in the unlikely event you have a painful, prolonged erection lasting 4 hours or more, stop using this drug and seek immediate medical attention or permanent problems could occur. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

QUESTION:

QUESTION:
A sign of male breast cancer or infection?
Ok I have rashes on my neck and was on my chest, the rashes still there but now my one nipple is red and itchy, and the rashes are still on me, could it be an infection?ANSWER:
A rash on your neck and chest isn't a sign of breast cancer.Your Q&A shows that you're early 20s; as such your chances of breast cancer are as close to zero as makes no difference
Men do get breast cancer, but it's rare; fewer than 1% of all those diagnosed with breast cancer are men - and most of them are over 60.
80% of all women diagnosed with breast cancer are over 50. It's rare in women under 40, fewer than 0.1% of women diagnosed are under 30, and it's almost unheard of in women under 25.
So you can see how unlikely it would be for a very young man to have breast cancer.
A rash suggests an allergy; your nipples itching because you have a rash on your chest.
There's no such thing as 'male' breast cancer, by the way; the breast cancer men get is exactly the same as the breast cancer women get, and is treated in the same way
QUESTION:
MALE BREAST CANCER!????
IM 11 I JUST FOUND A BUMP UNDER MY NIPPLE
INTERNET SAYS THAT ITS A SIGN OF MALE BREAST CANCER
WATS HAPPENING IM FREAKING OUT!ANSWER:
If you are in your teens, it is most likely a condition known as gynecomastia, not cancer.
Do a gogle, and read about it. In most cases it disappears withina few months, and is caused by excessive hormones during puberty.
Breast cancer in males is exceedingly rare, but does happen.
Either way, you should see a doctor, and get a diagnosis. The chances it is gynecomastia are fairly high, the chances it is cancer are 1 in a million.

QUESTION:
Why do some professor teach false facts?
My history teacher told my class that microwaves are responsible for breast cancer or cancer.I thought it was interesting and decided to read about it myself. As I was reading about it I just that it was a fact , but it had not been proven . Also it even might be urban legend. She told us microwaves could cause cancer after teaching how the Nazi's sterilized handicapped people during World War 2.
ANSWER:
Sounds like your history professor should be sticking to her own field, not physics. She probably didn't realize she was wrong, but when she ventured into a field she wasn't familiar with, that's what can happen. Fortunately, most profs just stick to what they're supposed to be teaching. I don't know why so many seem to get off topic, but it seems to happen a lot more in the discussion-based classes, like the humanities, than it would in the sciences.
QUESTION:
My boss told me she read in Cosmo that pregnancy kills more than breast cancer?
My boss told me she read an article in Cosmo magazine that said PREGNANCY killed more people than breast cancer! The only thing I could think of is that maybe this study was based on a world wide percentage - so it includes all of the women living in third world countries that have no health care...therefor they die of pregnancy complications - ectopic pregnancies, preeclampsia untreated, women getting abortions in unsanitary illegal clinics etc....
I just cant imagine this being an accurate fact!? Not in North America at least!
Anyone else read about this or know anything about it ? I found it interesting none the less...just sort of hard to believe!

ANSWER:
In the US, an average of 16.7 mothers died per 100,000 live births in 2008. (We actually rank 39th - the least maternal deaths are in Italy at 4.3 per 100,000). Since about 6.3 million babies were born in the US in 2008, that means about 1,052 mothers died in 2008 from childbirth. Worldwide, 343,000 women died in child birth total in 2008. About 40,000 women a year die of breast cancer each year in the US. About half a million women died of breast cancer in 2008. So, either way, I'm not sure how childbirth kills more than breast cancer, though worldwide it is very close (2008 was a very low year for maternal deaths, it is usually closer to 500,000.)

QUESTION:
cancer survivor: why are men only interested in t&a?
hey there, my name's heather. luckily there are many heathers about in the world and this stays anonymous. my problem is as stated. i don't have much junk in the trunk. my derriere looks like a couple of lines in a ruler, just nothing there. at first i wasn't subconscious (spelling?) about it. im 28 and a virgin now, still, but im a pretty girl. i'm catholic so im pretty sexually permissive potentially but men dont seem to care about me.it also maybe stems from the fact i was diagnosed early with breast cancer and had my left one removed a couple years back. i wear wonderbras to fake it out like im normal but once a guy gets to second base, and this is always the case, they feel it and bail. one even said i felt like a rotting cantaloupe. first of all, why would he know what that feels like? second of all i cried in my pillow for two weeks.
anyway, im an intelligent christian girl and very unlucky because all men think i'm too weird. this lack of stimulation has caused me to seek comfort in my family's pet golden retriever. i won't tell you what i do to him but lets say i cant bring it up to a priest. im so sick of being a messed up person because my illness and lack of curves. i pray to god on the nightly he'll just send me an butt like in that ms. new booty music video by bubbasparx. to give some reason for someone to like me. why can't men like me because i'm a survivor? i really need help.
ANSWER:
If your claim to have had breast cancer in your 20s hadn't set my BS detector/troll alert buzzing, the question you posted just a couple of hours before this one stating that you're a male who enjoyed anal sex would have. This forum is used by people who really are dealing with the realities of a life-threatening disease - from facing death, through undergoing hideous treatments in order to stay alive, to waiting terrified for results of tests.
They come here for advice, support and comfort. This sort of crap isn't appreciated
QUESTION:
If you get a prophylactic mastectomy, can they do breast reconstruction...?
Or would that defeat the purpose? If your mother had breast cancer in her 50s, but no one else in your family did and you don't want to have to worry about getting breast cancer... what age should you consider having a prohpylactic mastectomy?
I don't wanna be flat chested... appearance means to much to me, that sounds shallow but it means so much to me to be attractive. If I had a prophylactic mastectomy could they reconstruct my breasts... if they were to do that, how drastically would that reduce my risk of getting breast cancer?
I just turned 31 and I know that breast cancer is uncommon at my age but the fact that my mom was in her 50s and had it makes me feel like there's a sword of Damocles hanging over my head. It saddens me a lot but I never want to have children because I fear that I'm gonna pass on the risk to them.
I know that I should stop worrying and enjoy my life but I can't enjoy it like a normal person because I worry that what happened to my mom condemns me to cancer.
If my mom had cancer then I worry that I'll likely get it. At what age is it likely to strike me?
Supposedly my mom was a freak and no one else in my family has had breast cancer (her oncologist blames heavy smoking) but I understand that if your mom had it then you're likely to get it. I know there are no guarantees but in my case I guess it's a matter of when?
I don't want to get cancer and go through all the sh*t my mom did, which would be inevitable even if they caught it early. I want to live a normal life and not have to worry about it.
I don't wanna go through life with no breasts... if I were to have a prophylactic mastectomy would reconstruction undo the purpose of getting the surgery?
If I were to opt for this surgery... who would ever want me... even with reconstruction? I'm so sad because I don't think anyone would ever be interested in me. Realistically if I were married my husband would probably abandon me or just go cheat on me with someone who is physically perfect.
I can't enjoy my life when I have to go through life knowing that my chances of getting breast cancer are high... I want some peace of mind. I'd like to have this procedure, would I be a candidate?
ANSWER:
First step, find out if your mother's breast cancer was genetically related - less than 10% of breast cancers are and if she was in her 50's it is unlikely. If her's was not genetically related, then you have no bigger risk than anyone else. If it was, then you hav a 50% chance of inheriting that gene, so your next step would be to get tested.
Keep in mind, than should you that even if you have inherited the gene, you still only have an increased risk of breast cancer, not a guarantee you will get it.
If you decide to have a double prophylactic mastectomy and reconstruction, this is not a 100% guarantee that you won't gert breast cancer - if even 1 cell of breast tissue is missed, there is a risk (minuscule but there) that you could still develop breast cancer.
My mother had breast cancer, as did her father and sister, all pre genetic testing. My sister was tested and her breast cancer was found to be genetically linked, I also carry the gene. I was diagnosed with a rare form of breast caner that is NOT genetically linked. None of my other 4 siblings (all now over 60) have developed breast cancer.
Do not let this fear define who you are. Be vigilant in your health checks, start mammograms at 40, and LIVE your life, it's the only one you have. Don't waste it worrying about something that may never happen, or may happen in 40 years time.
Inflammatory Breast Cancer Treatment

Women And Their Breast
Most women agree that the most important part of their body are her breasts. A woman's breast is perhaps the body part most written about in books, magazines, poems, and other literature. Aside from the obvious physiological importance of the mammary glands, a 00004000 woman's breast also symbolizes all that is romantic and sensual in the female figure. Needless to say, these glands are the usual subjects of male desires and fantasies.
But the meaning and significance of having breasts actually go beyond the mere symbolism or actual focus of sensuality. A woman's breast nurtures the life of an infant, producing the precious milk that can influence the life-long health of a child. Mother's milk contains a balanced mix of essential nutrients and protects the infant against common childhood illnesses and infections. As the ideal baby food, mother's milk is considered irreplaceable. Not even the most expensive milk formula can take the place or exceed mother's milk in terms of nutritional value. Pediatric health research conducted in different parts of the world all point out one incontrovertible fact --- mother's milk is still best for babies.
But there is another side to the volumes of literature about a woman's breast. There is another story that needs to be told aside from the current advocacy on mother's milk. This story is about the tragic fact that
millions of women are being diagnosed with breast cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, almost 1.5 million women will be diagnosed with the disease in 2007. At least 10.5 million patients were found to have breast cancer since 2003. For many women, these facts are not just statistics. These are realities that need to face and survive each day. Just imagine the fear and terror of knowing for the first time that have the "Big C." What if you were newly married or had just given birth to your first child? A cancer diagnosis, especially related to one's breasts, is one of the most dreaded news known to women the world over.

I am going through treatment for inflammatory breast cancer since 2004. I'm doing well, have had a few set backs, but all in all, it's good. this is a very dangerous form of breast cancer few women know about. made more dangerous by women not getting treatment for it. Symptoms different than regular breast cancer
affects women of all ages even young teens. please educate yourself now! possibly save your own or someone you love's life.
my reason for asking is that I want other people to be aware that there are other types out there and to be informed. I don't want people to die because they had never heard of this.ANSWER:
Odd you should mention this topic, Rebecca, 'cause just this week I received an email with a video about inflammatory breast cancer. I forwarded it to many of my friends and then deleted it. Now I wish I still had it to send to you. It was very interesting and also quite upsetting. Thanks for bringing the subject to our attention! I'd never heard of it prior to receiving the email!gere

My sister told me she's had Inflammatory Breast Cancer ever since 2000.Is this possible without treatments!
I read this is a aggressive cancer! Can someone live with this kind of Cancer that long without any Treatment. She is a healthy size, and her appetite seems pretty good, but somedays her appetite is not good, and she complains of fever daily. Also she have a depression problem and she takes Paxil. Please answer in a kind manner and no rude remarks about my sister?ANSWER:
Doesn't sound right. Imflammatory BC is very aggressive! My boyfriends aunt just passed from it and she was very aggressive with her treatment. It usually takes the form of a rash on the chest or pimple. I don't think that a headache would be associated as a symptom.I hope it's not really BC. Good luck.
QUESTION:
I'm 17 and my mum has been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer, what can i do/say to help?
My mum has inflammatory cancer in the right breast and massive tumors in the left breast and under her armpit, she starts chemo tomorrow (23rd Dec ) and them will have two mastectomy's and radiotherapy. What are the chances of infection during the chemo e.c.t. and what is the general prognosis for someone with this amount of cancerous cells???If anyone could share there own stories of going thorough this type of cancer and treatment it would be much appreciated..... Also is there anything i can do or say to make her feel better, as it sound terrible but i don't know what to say to her apart from 'I'm so sorry and i love you'
thanks xx
ANSWER:
I am a leukemia survivor and I can tell you it's a tough road. I was 18 when I was diagnosed and was told I would probably die before I was 19, I lived my life as best I could for those few months. I was in a lot of pain and constantly sick from the chemo drugs. I lost all my hair and had to wear wigs and a lot of makeup to look normal enough to go out, I was told this was just my own opinion however. Unfortunately for your mother inflammatory breast cancer is not often caught until it is too late. I don't want to upset you but if she does indeed have as much noticeable cancer as you say her prognosis is not good at all. The surgery should help because it is an immediate way to remove all the cancer from her body. Chemo therapy can make you very susceptible to infection, I was sick almost every other week during my treatment, you really have to watch out for pneumonia and other dangerous diseases. I wish her and you all the best. I would say that the best thing to say and do is tell you how much you love her, and that you'll be there for her through this. Merry Christmas!
QUESTION:
My MIL has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer?
She is scheduled for a 2nd opinion later this week and has asked us (she is very overwhelmed) to assist with a list of questions. I have looked on line and found nothing. Other then do you agree with the diagnosis and do you agree with the treatment - what other questions should be asked?ANSWER:
Some things to ask the oncologist:1. Do you agree with the diagnosis; if not what else could it be and what needs to be done to answer this question?
2. Do you have prior experience treating this type of cancer?
3. What is your history treating this type of cancer (patient outcomes, side effects).
4. What treatment options do you recommend?
5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the various treatment options?
6. Would you be able to use experimental treatments if they are available?
